MODEL CAR RACING - A DARLINGTON TRADITION

Model Car Racing has been popular in the Darlington Area of South Carolina since the late 1980's. The hotbed of Model Car Racing in the beginning was at Pate Elementary School, where students raced their models cars during their lunch break/recess periods with the support & involvement of the school principal. Model Car Race Tracks sprang up In quite a few backyards during that era and It was not uncommon to find backyards filled with model car racers on weekends all over the area. Many of those youngsters from the Pate Elementary School race track days have kept the hobby alive over the years and have provided an outlet for their kids & grandkids to experience the fun of model car competition as they did when they were much younger.
